Dan Colonna Original Star Wars Art Auction

Do not underestimate the power of this incredible original Star Wars artwork.

A gifted painter and dear friend, artist Dan Colonna has been an active member and driving force in the collector community for many years. From age five, Dan began building model kits with his two older brothers, and by his late twenties was sculpting his own creations in order to fulfill his desire to paint three dimensional figures. In addition to an extensive professional portfolio – having had a hand in creating many fan-favorite pieces with Sideshow over the years, from Dinosauria to Dr. Doom – Dan has painted well over a hundred pieces for private collectors, and regularly shared his expertise with others, as a contributor to AFM (Amazing Figure Modeler) magazine, as well as by offering classes and demos at Wonderfest USA and Monsterpalooza. Now, it is our chance to give back and support him in his time of need.

In late 2013, Dan was diagnosed with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer. Against all odds, he’s fighting an ongoing battle to overcome this oppressive disease, and it is one that takes its toll not only physically, but financially. Staying focused on the therapeutic nature of his work, Dan continues to spend as much time in his studio as he can painting, and is currently offering these unique pieces at auction to help fund his ongoing treatment:

This amazing pair of signed oil paintings depict the first and second Death Stars from A New Hope and Return of the Jedi. Rendered on intricately cut and layered aluminum sheets, together or individually these pieces will be a most impressive addition any Star Wars collection. These auctions will close on Monday, July 27th at 7pm. Don’t miss your chance to own these one-of-a-kind works of art, and at the same time help out an amazing and courageous artist.

Work in progress

In addition to the auctions, Dan’s family has also set up an easy way to contribute a donation in any amount, and every bit helps.

Dan resides in Winter Garden, Florida with his wife Rhonda and two teen aged kids, where he maintains a positive outlook and creative drive, stating, “Most importantly, [I look forward to] spending precious time with my wonderful family and friends. Due to a major life-changing health issue, I taught myself, or maybe life taught me, that no moment should ever be taken for granted. I am still trying to learn how to slow down, which goes against my personal nature. However, taking time to breath, look, and listen does wonders for the mind and I encourage everybody to give it a try.”
