Marvel’s Daredevil: Born Again Trailer Breakdown

“The Devil’s work is never done.” Marvel Television’s Daredevil: Born Again trailer is finally here! Just ahead of the series premiere on March 4, 2025, Marvel Entertainment dropped this exciting full-length look at the new show. It promises all the action, intrigue, and rocky relationships we’ve come to expect from Matt Murdock and company. From debut and returning characters to more hints at the plot and villains, let’s break down the Daredevil: Born Again trailer below.

As a reminder, we last saw Matt Murdock in Spider-Man: No Way Home as well as She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. Matt was Peter Parker’s lawyer and Jennifer Walters’ one-time lover. Additionally, we saw Kingpin in Hawkeye as well as the Echo finale. There, Wilson Fisk expressed the desire to change his ways after almost losing Maya Lopez.

Matt Murdock is no longer Daredevil — or so he claims

The trailer opens with a quick flash to a hallway fight scene. While it probably won’t come close to the season 1 showdown, or that epic one take prison break in season 3, we do always have high hopes for Daredevil fight sequences. But beyond that yellow-tinged battle, we slow down quite a bit. Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk are meeting in a diner. They’re catching up, it seems, as if they’re old pals.

Kingpin asks why Matt is no longer a vigilante. Matt explains that he crossed a line. Things got too violent, and he abused his power. However, we don’t know to which exact incident Matt is referring. Perhaps it’s the season 3 finale, where he bloodied Wilson Fisk almost beyond recognition? A glimpse at the Daredevil mask falling from the roof is an interesting clue. But like any trailer, we don’t have the most information to work with.

Kingpin is mayor of New York

According to the series premise, Matt and Fisk want to set aside their rivalry. In order to help NYC flourish, they believe it’s time to settle down and do what’s morally right. For Matt, that means dropping the Daredevil disguise. For Kingpin, that means being elected mayor of New York. But Matt isn’t entirely convinced of Kingpin’s newfound righteousness. Plus, the trailer leads us to suspect the villain will return to his old ways, too. Wilson can be seen wielding an axe and beating people to a pulp. But we don’t know where in the timeline those scenes really take place.

Karen Page and Foggy Nelson are back

Thankfully, Matt isn’t alone in his crusade for justice. Despite all of Daredevil’s attempts to push people away “in order to protect them,” he can’t shake Karen Page and Foggy Nelson. Hopefully, the short shot of the three lawyers walking together indicates happier times for the team. After all, Foggy did suggest Nelson, Murdock & Page as their new office name.

If Matt is truly eschewing the vigilante lifestyle, that means he’s ramping up for a full-time commitment to legal work. An unnamed paralegal appears in the trailer — could he be their staff? It’s difficult to trust new faces when there are so many lies boiling over in Hell’s Kitchen. But let’s give him a shot!

Punisher and Bullseye have also returned

Let’s hear it for the antiheroes and villains. Last seen in The Punisher season 2, Frank Castle returns. He and Matt seem to share their typical tolerating relationship in this trailer. Interestingly, Matt meets with Frank totally unmasked, and politely requests Frank lower his hatchet. Most likely, this means Frank is in hiding and Matt managed to track him down. We know from earlier teasers that Daredevil and Punisher are set to team up to take down bad guys in Born Again. Perhaps this is the inception of that beloved duo’s return.

Conversely, Benjamin Poindexter is gearing up to do true evil. He survived defeat in Daredevil season 3 and can’t wait to take vengeance. Ultimately, though, what can Dex do in prison? There are lots of questions here, and even more theories. But what we do know is that there are new, masked bank robbers in the city that Matt can’t help but stop. And then, is Matt going to briefly steal that red ski mask? Perhaps before he puts on that shiny array of brand-new Daredevil masks? Or is it Buck Cashman/Bullet dramatically breaking that guy’s leg? We think the latter is most likely.

What’s up with White Tiger?

Like we mentioned above, there’s some new warriors in town. Buck Cashman, AKA Bullet, appears in a few sequences where he’s tossing people in front of trains. Ouch! In Marvel comics, Bullet works as a mercenary for Kingpin. While Kingpin has no problem getting his hands dirty, it could behoove him to have someone else do the worst work. Buck might fit that role in the series.

Of course, we also see White Tiger. Hector Ayala is a hero who utilizes mystical amulets to fight crime. That gives us pause, though. White Tiger and Daredevil battle viciously throughout the trailer. They should be allies. We wonder what makes White Tiger hate the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen so much that he literally growls at Matt. Also worth noting is White Tiger’s small tie-in to Miles Morales. While Miles has only appeared in animated projects, White Tiger — and his run-ins with Hobie Brown/Prowler — could be another nod toward the teen hero.

Vanessa Fisk and Heather Glenn support their partners

Well, even if White Tiger is out to get Daredevil, at least Matt has a new girlfriend. Heather Glenn appears very briefly, both dancing and getting intimate with Matt. Just as briefly, Vanessa Fisk appears clinking a wine glass with her husband. It looks like the couple worked out the differences that almost destroyed Kingpin in Daredevil. While romance plots are typically not the main concern in super hero shows, it’s important to talk about them. Ultimately, they do greatly impact our hero’s — and villain’s — psychological states. Especially when their lovers can be used as a pressure point against them.

Final Thoughts: Grace and Retribution

Overall, it’s an excellent trailer. And we expected nothing less. Daredevil has been a fan-favorite show since it aired in 2015. Now, a decade later, rights have changed hands from Netflix to Disney. But the series’ tone still looks dark, gritty, and mature. It’s the sigh of relief heard ’round the world on that one! Now we just get to sit back, wait pretty impatiently, and hold tight for Daredevil: Born Again to premiere on March 4, only on Disney+.
