SDCC is the biggest annual hub for super hero media news.  This past weekend, Warner Bros. and DC Studios dropped numerous trailers and announcements for live-action, animated, and comic book projects. From new movie footage to event date reveals and more, DC got everyone excited for the next wave of media.

Below, check out a few highlights from the convention — including official trailers for Clayface and Lanterns.

Clayface Official Trailer

DCU “Chapter One: Gods and Monsters” is finally getting really, really monstrous. Clayface (dir. James Watkins) follows Matt Hagen, an actor whose career is cut brutally short when a gangster disfigures him. Desperate to reclaim his fame, Hagen enrolls in an experimental drug trial that turns him into the goopy, clay-based Batman villain we know and love. However, there is no casting news at this time about a DCU Batman; The Batman Part II and Robert Pattinson remain firmly in the “Elseworlds” category.

Online, fans can’t stop chattering about that intense airplane bathroom scene in Clayface. If you haven’t seen it yet, either keep your eyes wide open or look very quickly away from the startling body horror sequence. Accomplished with practical effects and SFX makeup, it’s a great glimpse at the tone we can expect from the Clayface movie.

Lanterns Official Trailer

Lanterns premieres exclusively on HBO Max on August 16, 2026. Now that’s less than a month away! And with the pilot dropping so soon, DC Studios finally revealed a full-length trailer explaining a few key plot details. Plus, the trailer shows Guy Gardner interacting with fellow Green Lanterns Hal Jordan and John Stewart. While fans knew Nathan Fillion would reprise his Superman role in this series, it’s nice to see a bit of his narrative ahead of the release.

According to DC and HBO, Lanterns will have eight total episodes. It fits into the overall canon continuity of the freshly streamlined DC Universe, or DCU. It is the third official DCU television series after Creature Commandos and Peacemaker.

Batman: Knightfall Part 1 Official Trailer

Batman: Knightfall Part 1 pits Batman against his classic enemies in an all-out brawl for survival. And if he hasn’t been pushed to his limits enough, a new Rogue emerges: Bane! Adapted from the comic series of the same name, published in 1994, the upcoming animated film also features Azrael. Sometimes friend and sometimes foe, Azrael has played a much larger role in recent DC projects.

According to Warner Bros. Entertainment, Batman: Knightfall Part 1 heads to digital on August 25, 2026. It will be followed by a 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD release on September 8, 2026. There is no current news about Part 2 at this time.

Batman: Bad Seeds Comic Event Trailer

Batman: Bad Seeds is an upcoming 10-week event sprawling its way into comic book stores on August 26, 2026. The official trailer hints at heavy involvement from beloved Gotham City Sirens and antiheroes Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn. Bad Seeds is led by Matt Fraction and G. Willow Wilson.

DC Next Level Announcement

The next stage of DC’s “Next Level” publishing initiative arrives soon. Three new ongoing comic book series are set to launch September 2026, including Legion of Super-Heroes, Teen Titans, and The Doom Patrol. These titles join the ranks of highly successful Next Level launches like Batwoman, Lobo, Deathstroke: The Terminator, Firestorm, Zatanna, Barbara Gordon: Breakout, and The Deadman.

For readers who prefer to keep their continuity aligned, these books are not standalone. In fact, they fit in alongside the main and Absolute universes alike. However, they are independent narratives and stories that do not tie to ongoing series. Like other Next Level projects, they are designed to be very new-reader friendly, with a slow rollout which encourages fans to find a nice and easy jumping-in spot.
