M’Baku Meets The Thing in Avengers: Doomsday Trailer
The king has his duties … and the Black Panther has hers. Ahead of the highly anticipated MCU Phase Six film, Marvel has released the fourth official Avengers: Doomsday teaser trailer — this time featuring the citizens of Wakanda as well as the Fantastic Four. This new teaser follows the first, second, and third, which featured Steve Rogers, Thor, and the X-Men respectively.

What is the role of the Wakandans in Avengers: Doomsday?
The upcoming Marvel movie will be directed by Anthony Russo and Joe Russo. It is the fifth installment in the Avengers movie series, following Avengers: Endgame — which the Russos also directed, along with Avengers: Infinity War, Captain America: Civil War, and Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
Steve Rogers and Thor
At this time, very few plot details are known. However, in terms of continuity, Doomsday ties in to the events of Thunderbolts* as well as The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Doomsday is likely quite the Multiverse-altering event, and will have a direct sequel in Secret Wars (set to release in December 2027). Based on the first two teasers, we can ascertain that the Avengers have separated and retired post Endgame. Yet Thor, Steve Rogers, and the Fantastic Four all have children to protect when a new threat — presumably Doctor Doom himself — emerges.
The X-Men
Based on the third teaser trailer, the X-Men are in dire straits. Magneto and Professor X play chess and find final moments of peace in a dilapidated X-Mansion. The school was potentially overrun or destroyed. But by Doom, Sentinels, or something/someone else? As always, we have to wonder if Scarlet Witch plays a key role. Back in the comics, she erased mutants from existence and then got amnesia, marrying Doctor Doom in a state of total personality wipe. With the gradual introduction of the Young Avengers into the MCU, we have to hope Secret Wars eventually ties into Children’s Crusade…
Then there’s Cyclops. Overcome with grief, the X-Men team leader drops to his knees and releases a powerful optic blast. What could have caused this anguish? Questions abound. Theories are infinite. Answers … we guess we’ll just have to wait until December.
Wakanda
After Black Panther 2: Wakanda Forever, the Wakandans and Namor’s people have joined forces. They all appear together in a desert landscape — could it be the ruins of Wakanda or an outpost of Talokan? Now, Shuri protects her own king, M’Baku, as he prepares his people for the afterlife. Yet the arrival of Ben Grimm (AKA The Thing) of the Fantastic Four may renew Wakanda’s hope for their future. After all, the Black Panther was first debuted in Fantastic Four comics.
