The Break-In Adaptation

Peacock has greenlit a limited series adaptation of The Break-In, written by Katherine Faulkner. “In the aftermath of a devastating home invasion, Alice Rathbone refuses to accept that the tragic event was simply random. Desperate for answers, Alice starts pulling at threads and soon finds a trail of dark secrets that spiral closer to home than she could ever have imagined.” Peacock has yet to announce a release date.

FIFA World Cup: Launch Edition Netflix Game

Netflix released a massive game, in collaboration with Delphi Interactive and the sports giant FIFA. They created FIFA World Cup: Launch Edition. “In this streamlined football simulation game, you can feel the thrill of the pitch instantly — all you need is Netflix and your phone — and it’s included in your membership. Experience the pride of playing for your country, step into real-life stadiums and pull off incredible plays with the world’s best athletes without ever leaving Netflix.” FIFA World Cup: Launch Edition is available now.

Cable Guy-Inspired Comedy

Deadline confirmed that Disney’s Hulu is developing a comedy based on the 1996 film The Cable Guy. The series would star Jake Johnson and Damon Wayans Jr., co-stars from the series New Girl. They’d star as Chip and Steven respectively.

“In a world of endless streaming, binging, and algorithms, old-school cable technician Chip Douglas languishes alone — until Steven Stephens calls to have his cable turned back on, reconnecting Chip with a childhood friend he never forgot. The relationship gives each man something he’s been missing… until Chip’s enthusiasm turns into obsession. Inspired by the movie, the show explores the darkly absurd side of modern-day male friendship.”

Rob Rossel, Joe Piarulli, and Luan Thomas wrote the pilot.

Fred Has Problems Animated Series Announcement

Deadline confirmed that Steve Dildarian is releasing his own animated series titled Fred Has Problems. Now, his new show follows “an optimistic man named Fred who tries to keep up with the times by doing the right thing, yet somehow is besieged by major problems. Whether he attempts to vote, recycle, or help find a lost dog, he ends up looking like the worst person on earth.” The first two episodes premiere on YouTube on July 1, and there will be new episodes available each month.
