Pose of the Day Challenge 2: Leaping- Winner Reveal!
From the desk of Posemaster General, Terry Smith:
Greetings, posers! And thanks to all of you who participated in Round 2 of Sideshow’s Pose of the Day Challenge! The prompt for this round, “Leaping,” was a significant step up in terms of its degree of difficulty, and I was surprised not just by the number of you who had the confidence to step up to the plate, but by how many AMAZING poses there were. It was an absurdly difficult decision to make.
But before I announce the winners, let me remind everyone to include in all future submissions a slip of paper with that day’s hashtag prompts. This is to prevent unscrupulous souls from pilfering another’s images from the internet and submitting them as their own. (No one wants to lose out to a Poser Pirate, amiright?)
Additionally, keep in mind that, while you’re more than welcome to show off your photography skills, this challenge is not a photo contest. We’re really only interested in seeing what you can do with the figures. (That’s why all of my sample images are shot with my iPhone.) That being said, there have been some fantastic images submitted, but several of them didn’t really show off the pose itself. I need to be able to see all of the figure. When it comes to the Pose of the Day Challenge, oftentimes less is more.
And with that…on to the victor!
Let me first make a tradition out of the inclusion of a couple of Honorable Mentions.
Honorable Mention:
D. Beard blew my mind with his pose of the Hot Toys Scarlet Spider Sixth Scale Figure. I have to admit that I had to ponder long and hard as to whether web-swinging would count as leaping, per se.
Ultimately, I decided that the point when Spidey is transitioning from one web to the next represents a brief moment of suspension, so technically a web-swing is basically a prolonged leap. Beautiful pose of a fantastic, fun figure, Damon!
Honorable Mention:
Furthermore, E. O’Donoghue crushed it with his pose of the Hot Toys Darth Maul Sixth Scale Figure. Utterly savage!
Imagine looking up at seeing THAT about to drop down on you from above. (And when you’re done imagining it, feel free to take a second to duck out and change your britches…)
Challenge 2: Leaping Winner!
Alas, though, there can still be only one winner. And today, that winner is… L. McComas, for her gorgeous, whimsical creation using the Hot Toys Yondu Sixth Scale Figure!
I loved everything about this pose, from the textbook limb placement, to the styling of the coat, to the use of pretty much every point of articulation on the figure in what I would call an ideal fashion. Lovely work! Congrats on your victory!
Posers, stay tuned- your next Pose of the Day challenge will be announced on Friday, April 3rd.
