Sideshow in 2021: Our Geeky Year in Review

Here at Sideshow, pop culture is our culture. Every year we celebrate the movies, television, music, and media of all kinds that make us want to Let Our Geek Sideshow. 2021 was no exception.

From events to new brand announcements and more, we had an exciting year in the pop culture community. Join us as we take a look back at Sideshow’s 2021 highlights.


12 Days of Sideshow

January 2021

12 Days of Sideshow is our annual December/January event full of licensing and new reveals. During 12 Days of Sideshow 2020/2021 we brought plenty of exciting news from DC Comics, Star Wars, Marvel, and more. Most of these collectibles — including the Taskmaster Premium Format™ Figure by Sideshow — are available and shipping now!

We’re also currently in the midst of the 12 Days of Sideshow 2021/2022 event. Unwrap a new surprise from Sunday, December 25, 2021 to Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at side.show/12days.


Partnership with BTS

February 2021

BTS, an acronym of Bangtan Sonyeondan or “Beyond the Scene,” is a globally renowned group of 21st century pop stars that has been capturing the hearts of millions of fans since their debut in June 2013. The members of BTS are RM, Jin, SUGA, j-hope, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook.

In early 2021, Sideshow announced a new and exciting collaboration with BTS, including statues and art prints. The first reveal was the BTS: Idol Fine Art Print by Ian MacDonald. Since then, the BTS collection has grown with Logo Replicas and art by Kildren and Tracie Ching.


Birthday Extravaganza

March 2021

Sideshow celebrated 27 years of pop culture community with the 2021 Birthday Extravaganza. Every day fans could look forward to giveaways, live content, game showsSideshow rewards, product discounts, and even new product reveals. We hope to see you in 2022 when we turn 28!


May the Fourth

May 2021

Sideshow’s Fan Week 2021 celebrated Star Wars in its entirety, from the light and dark sides of the Force to the galaxy’s greatest heroes and villains. There were livestreams, booth tours, and giveaways galore. Plus, we hosted an extra special in-person event for California locals.

On May 4th, host Guy Klender and producer Alan Hellard took the show on the road in Sideshow’s “Vandalorian.” They drove to Scum and Villainy Cantina in Hollywood where they gave away prizes, showed our audience around the venue, and celebrated the geekiest intergalactic holiday around in the ultimate Star Wars style.


Ser Sideshow Video Game

June 2021

During Sideshow’s Level Up! Week 2021, we celebrated all things gaming. This included video games, tabletop RPGs, board games — you play it, we covered it! But the best part of the event was the release of Level Up! With Ser Sideshow, our first ever side-scrolling platform game. You can meet our nonbinary knight Ser Sideshow and the rest of the characters, plus learn more about the game, on our roll call blog.

Spoiler alert! We’ll dash briefly ahead to October, when the game’s sequel was released. Run, jump, and double jump through Castle Spooktacular at side.show/play.


Sideshow Con

July 2021

Sideshow Con 2021, our virtual summer convention, brought fans coveted content like Trivial CahootsCobbled Cosplay, and Win, Lose or, DIE. Throughout the weeklong event there were also product discounts, new product reveals, exclusive products, and giveaways. Check out the daily wrap-up blogs for each day to get an idea of the size and scale of one of our most ambitious events to date.


Fandom Rewind

September 2021

Fandom Rewind 2021 was a most excellent event! Whether you grew up in the ’80s and ’90s or you just have good taste in pop culture, this event aimed to spotlight the movies, music, and TV of yesterday. No VCR required. And this weeklong dive into retro and nostalgia geekiness was such a hit it became an instant cult classic — so we’re excited to announce Fandom Rewind is coming back in 2022. Stay tuned for more details.


Sideshow’s New York Con

October 2021

During the virtual Sideshow New York Con 2021 we had multiple booth tours of rotating product from distributors such as Hot Toys, Tweeterhead, and Threezero. Spooktacular

October 2021

Sideshow’s annual Spooktacular featured booth tours, new product reveals, other livestream content, discounts on products, giveaways, and more! Take a look at the peril, mayhem, prizes, and mischief you may have missed with our Spooktacular 2021 YouTube Playlist! And before you join us again next year, remember — SLEEP IS FOR THE WEAK!


Appearance at LA Comic Con

November 2021

LA Comic Con was Sideshow’s first physical appearance at a convention since 2019 and its first ever showing in Los Angeles. The booth featured a wide range of high-end collectibles from all your favorite fandoms, including many that made their physical display debut at LA Comic Con 2021.

Sideshow’s booth also included a unique photo op with the Grogu™ Life-Size Figure, AKA The Child from The Mandalorian™. Finally, we rounded out the geeky festivities with an exclusive release of Unruly Industries’ Batman Designer Collectible Toy (Matte Black Version) by Jesse Hernandez/Urban Aztec. This collectible was limited to 300 pieces — so congratulations if you brought the Bat home!


Geeksgiving

November 2021
