Sideshow Featured Collector: Alex Aronowicz
Location: East Meadow, NY
How and when did you start collecting?
I’ve been a collector for all of my life. I finally jumped into Sideshow in 2014 with the Hot Toys Red Skull. I’ve always collected many little items, and realized that I needed to go big or go home. That is the advice for all of those people who, like me, drool over Sideshow items, but keep letting them slip away. I regret every Sideshow Hellboy piece that I let slip away because I was intimidated. If you see something beautiful, give it a good home! You deserve each other. Collect Sideshow, not regrets.
What do you collect? Does your collection have a theme, such as Star Wars collectibles, Batman, etc.?
What makes your collection unique?
I think my collection is unique because I collect not only items that fit my themes, but I also collect items for how photogenic they are. I don’t just leave my collection on the shelves, I take my toys out and play with them. Me and my best friend get together like little kids and have action figure photo shoots with these high end collectibles.
What are your favorite or the most prized pieces in your collection?
My prized piece is actually one of the newest in my collection. The Ultron Mark 1 Hot Toy is such an impressively conceptualized/sculpted/painted piece, I cannot stop bragging about it.
What items are on your wishlist?
My wish list begins with Court of the Dead. I have been following the progress of this line for a while. The world created for this is so rich and original. Seeing Malavestros at SDCC made my Jaw Drop, and he is at the top of the list. The new Skeletor and Evil-Lyn statues are perfect, Jack Burton sixth scale is next (hopefully Lo-Pan follows). Deadpool Heat-seeker is drop dead gorgeous. Threezero T-60 Power Armor is such a great looking piece as well. My biggest wants may not see production, but need to be mentioned: The Yellowjacket and Crossbones Hot Toys. I can’t wait to see what is announced in 2017!
