Look Up! The Superman 2025 Teaser Trailer Is Here

DC fans, the time has finally arrived — we all must look up in the sky for our first view of Superman (2025) from DC Studios. As promised, the teaser trailer has dropped in from the upper atmosphere. James Gunn’s new Superman story, the first feature film for the DCU, looks to be an exciting, comics-faithful vision of the Man of Steel.

Superman (2025)

Superman will soar into movie theaters on July 11, 2025. Ahead of the highly anticipated movie, most details are still under wraps, especially where plot is concerned — though we have received hints from James Gunn himself that he’s been inspired by comic books like Superman for All Seasons and Superman: Up in the Sky.

We do know that this film will depict a younger version of Superman, earlier in his career as Earth’s protector, and it won’t necessarily be an origin story for the super hero either. From the trailer, we of course see both Clark Kent and Kal-El interacting with Lois Lane as well as his arch-nemesis, Lex Luthor. It also appears that Kal-El gets severely beaten down and bruised, with specks of blood against snow that’s presumably near Kal-El’s Fortress of Solitude. At one point, the people of Metropolis even appear to turn on Superman. Still, we also see him perform heroic saves, suggesting that this hatred could only be temporary.

Plus, the new riff on the iconic “Superman – Main Theme” by John Williams and John Debney is icing on the Kryptonian cake.

The Cast of Superman 2025

Metropolis appears to be on full display in all its comic-accurate big city glory, right down to the huge, eye-catching globe atop the Daily Planet building. Elsewhere in the teaser trailer, we also catch appearances from Guy Gardner, a volatile member of the Green Lantern Corps, as well as fellow super heroes Mister Terrific and Hawkgirl. There are also blink-and-you-miss-it shots of what’s possibly Metamorpho, Kelex, and a building belonging to another Metropolis megalomaniac, Simon Stagg. All the layers are being added for a very rich DC Universe for years to come.

But most importantly, you can’t forget that Krypto cameo! Superman’s ever-loyal, super-powered dog rescues him from the snow. Such a good boy.

As far as casting goes, David Corenswet is Superman/Clark Kent, Rachel Brosnahan is Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult is Lex Luthor. Joining the main characters are Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Isabela Merced as Kendra Saunders (Hawkgirl), and Edi Gathegi as Michael Holt (Mister Terrific). The scenes featuring these other heroes seem to point toward hostility between them and Superman. Is there hope for a team-up? Only time will tell. Other appearances in the upcoming film will include Milly Alcock as Kal-El’s cousin Kara Zor-El, AKA Supergirl, and Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen.
