The mighty Thor proved himself to his father Odin when he took up the enchanted hammer Mjolnir, and now the story appears to be happening all over again right here in our home realm of Midgard.

When Redditor Crux1836 asked his son what he wanted for his 4th birthday, the boy replied “a Thor hammer. A REAL Thor hammer!” So naturally, Dad fired up the forge…

After cutting a hollow steel square-stock down to size and cleaning it up a bit, he was ready to get started. First the piece had to be heated to a searing white-hot temperature in order to punch a hole for the handle.

Instead of Dwarven blacksmiths, the faithful shop dog, Guinness stands by on duty.

The entire heating process took about a week, with each heating period lasting a little longer and hotter than the day before, beveling the edges and letting it cool in a sand/ash mixture overnight.

The final piece is intended as a decorative piece only for the child’s bedroom except under close supervision, but he appears to as worthy of wielding the mighty Mjolnir as he is ecstatic to receive such an amazing thoughtful gift.
