Tristan Eaton’s Pop Culture Intersections and Exhibits

By Sideshow on Sep 21, 2023

In a surprise reveal, pop culture collectibles studio Sideshow and artist Tristan Eaton have announced an exciting collaboration with the launch of two limited-edition, highly collectible statues as part of the continuation of Eaton’s iconic Uprise series.

Learn more about Tristan Eaton as well as these stunning new fine art collectibles below.

Tristan Eaton

Tristan Eaton began designing toys for Fisher Price at 18. After graduating from his alma mater, the School of Visual Arts in New York, he co-founded the legendary KidRobot. There, he created two of its most iconic designs. The Dunny and Munny solidified Tristan as one of the founders of the designer toy movement carried forth by contemporary pop artists.

Shortly after KidRobot, Eaton founded Thunderdog Studios. There he created original art and design work for major clients like Nike, Universal, Marvel, and many others. His highly sought-after style and work ethic in the field continues to blur the lines between commercial and fine art.

Murals and More

Eaton is perhaps best known for his large-scale public murals. These can be found throughout the world from New York to Paris to Shanghai. He executes these murals in freehand spray paint, a technique that is a personal nod to both his own history as well as his respect for graffiti culture. In these paintings, Tristan also honors traditional muralism with thoughtful and dynamic subject matter and compositions.

All of these experience became touchstones in Eaton’s fine art practice, in which techniques new and old meet unusual and innovative ideas. These are paired with an assortment of methods and materials both traditional and modern, all of which find a home and harmony in his work. Tristan Eaton’s work can be seen in the Museum of Modern Art’s permanent collection as well as the Cooper Hewitt Museum.
