All the Upcoming Anime Releases for 2026 and 2027
Originally published November 2, 2026. This article covers anime series that are premiering and returning in 2026 and 2027.
Fall is (finally!) officially upon us, and that means it’s time for pumpkin spice everything, hoodies big enough to get lost in, the best holiday of the entire year, and if you’re a certain flavor of nerd, a whole host of premiering anime to add to your To Watch List.
Sequels are the name of the game this season though, so while returning favorites stack the fall 2026 lineup, there are still some brand new titles airing through the end of this year and into 2027 that might pique your interest. Here’s a look at some of the anime to curl up in your blankets with this season.
Sequels and Returning Anime Series
The Apothecary Diaries is one of the most popular anime of the last few years, and it’s season three premiere was arguably the most highly anticipated of this whole batch of titles. At the time of writing, the first three episodes are available to watch in the original Japanese, while only the first episode is dubbed into English. This newest season will be broken into two parts, with the second half airing in April of 2027. Other romance anime like The Ramparts of Ice and My Happy Marriage will also be getting brand new episodes this month.
This season is a good one for fans of legacy shonen titles too as Ranma ½, Black Clover, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, and even Dragon Ball Super have new seasons premiering in October. New favorite Cyberpunk Edgerunners will get a second season this fall, as will shows like The Prince of Tennis and Blue Box if you like your animated shenanigans with a side of sports.
Brand New Anime Series
While it’s certainly not a new property, Magic Knight Rayearth gets a brand new anime adaptation this season by the same team tackling Blue Box and Sakamoto Days (we’ll come back to that one later).
Firefly Wedding, a story about a nobleman’s daughter who proposes to her highly obsessive kidnapper out of sheer desperation, looks wonderful in a messy, toxic way, and Overgeared promises isekai-esque tomfoolery with its premise of earning real-world fame and fortune via success in a VR game.
Something like PSYREN adds a bit of mystery and thriller to the action with its tale of a high school boy investigating the sudden disappearance of his best friend and encountering a secret organization, with several other disappearances in the process.
Looking Ahead at Anime in 2027!
Some of the most popular existing franchises will have new seasons airing in 2027, but it’s a brand new title that has the most buzz ahead of its premiere. The anime adaptation of Kagurabachi, an action-packed story of revenge and super-powered katana, will debut in April alongside the previously mentioned second half of The Apothecary Diaries’ third season.
January will see the return of shows like Sakamoto Days (see, I told you we’d be back) about a yakuza hitman wanting to enjoy a peaceful retirement and Mashle: Magic and Muscles about a boy with no magical abilities trying to find his way at a magic school.
Part two of the third season of One-Punch Man will air some time in January, as will the next batch of episodes of Though I Am an Inept Villainess. The CloverWorks adaptation of popular yuri series The Guy She Was Interested in Wasn’t a Guy at All is set for the new year and is hotly anticipated thanks to the commercial and critical success of the manga.
Other familiar titles like Shangri-La Frontier, Marriagetoxin, Tougen Anki, and Skip and Loafer will all have new seasons airing during the early months of 2027 too.
Huge properties like Chainsaw Man, Jujutsu Kaisen, Witch Hat Atelier, Solo Leveling, Gachiakuta and so many others are slated for new seasons in the middle and later months of 2027, so as good as anime fans are eating now, the feast is set to continue far into next year.
