Final Star Wars: The Acolyte Trailer + New Poster Released

By Sideshow on May 7, 2024

Over the weekend, the official final trailer for the upcoming Star Wars TV series, Star Wars: The Acolyte™, emerged from one of the most unknown periods of galactic history. First, the teaser trailer introduced us to a galactic era where the Jedi are at their most powerful but they’re also being hunted down. Now, the final trailer sheds some light (and darkness) on the show’s rich plot ahead of its June 4 premiere.

In a two-episode premiere, The Acolyte will sweep us into a new chapter of Star Wars lore — and a battle of Jedi versus Sith like we’ve never seen before. For now, we have more information to explore about new characters and new interstellar intrigue. Watch the trailer below, check out the latest TV series poster, and take a closer look with us at everything that’s been revealed about Star Wars: The Acolyte.

The Acolyte Final Trailer

“If you want to pull the thread, and change everything, then pull it.” – Mother Aniseya

Because Star Wars: The Acolyte takes place during the High Republic, about a hundred years before Star Wars: The Phantom Menace™, most of the featured characters will be new faces. At the show’s center, we have Mae™ (played by Amandla Stenberg) — a young Force user who seems to be caught between the light side and the dark side, much to the dismay of her former Master, Sol™ (played by Lee Jung-jae). Among the ranks of the Jedi, Masters Indara™ (Carrie-Anne Moss) and Vernestra Rwoh™ (Rebecca Henderson) help lead the fight against the gathering dark forces. Fans of the High Republic books and comic books will recognize Rwoh from her many adventures as a young Jedi.

In addition to these Masters, a Jedi Knight named Yord Fandar™ (Charlie Barnett) also appears along with a rarely seen Wookiee™ Jedi Master named Kelnacca™ (Joonas Suotamo). Plus, the youthful Master Torbin (Dean-Charles Chapman) is included in new footage that shows his pupils turning dark before he falls to his knees. It seems the Jedi are in much deeper trouble than even previously thought if they are succumbing to the dark side’s influence.

New Key Star Wars Art for The Acolyte

“The Jedi justify their galactic dominance in the name of peace.” – Qimir

While the battle between the Sith and the Jedi will undoubtedly be a focal point of Star Wars: The Acolyte, other groups and factions from across the galaxy will also be drawn into this eternal struggle. From Jedi outposts to cityscapes and forest planets, the imbalance of the Force affects everyone, not just Force users. Mother Aniseya™ (Jodie Turner-Smith) also appears at the bottom of the new poster for The Acolyte. It’s unclear how she’ll factor into Mae’s journey between light and dark, but a Star Wars Witch is always a powerful ally to have — or a dangerous enemy.

According to a StarWars.com interview with Leslye Headland, the TV series’ director, Star Wars: The Acolyte will also incorporate multiple elements of Legends lore. Rounding out the cast are smuggler Qimir™ (Manny Jacinto) and Jecki™ (Dafne Keen) a half-human half-Theelin™ Padawan™ who has taken Mae’s place in Sol’s tutelage. Plus, there’s a new handheld droid named Pip™! But as the largely red poster suggests, The Acolyte focuses on the Sith’s re-entry into a Galactic Republic that thinks it’s invincible.

Which mysteries of Star Wars: The Acolyte are you most excited to see unraveled in the two-episode premiere? And as tales of the High Republic continue to emerge, which characters pique your interest? Thanks to this new Star Wars art poster, we have a lot more to look forward from a long time ago in that galaxy far, far away.
