Geeky Golden Globes 2025 Nominations: Dune, Deadpool, & More

It’s the end of the year, so you know what that means! The Golden Globes 2025 nominations are here. Thankfully, and rightfully so, quite a few geeky movies and television shows have made the list.

Now, there were some surprising snubs — Interview With The Vampire being chief among them — but we’re here to celebrate, not mourn! From fan-favorite actors like Sebastian Stan and Zendaya to the most binge-able TV and two-trips-to-theater movies, here are the geeky nominations.

Dune: Part Two

Following its 2021 predecessor, Dune: Part 2 propels Paul Atreides toward all-out planetary war. In this sweeping sci-fi epic, the young royal must choose between the love of his life and the fate of the universe. It’s a cosmic tale of revenge, betrayal, freedom, and rebellion bolstered by futuristic costumes, fantastic VFX, and a legendary OST. Dune: Part Two is nominated for:

Wicked

Wicked is a villain-focused take on The Wizard of Oz. Following the ostracized Elphaba and the ever-popular Glinda, this musical is based on the stage play and book of the same title. Audiences are already raving about the lavish sets and vocal talent. And while Wicked is still only in theaters, it’s been nominated for:

The Wild Robot

Freedom, family, purpose, identity, and individuality are just some of the themes in The Wild Robot. An absolute tearjerker, this animated movie follows a service robot who crash lands in the wilderness. There, she discovers that belonging is important — just not when it’s to an institution that wants you to fit in at the cost of your heart. The Wild Robot is nominated for:

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice

Fans were rightfully nervous when a sequel to the beloved cult classic Beetlejuice was announced. But never fear! Director Tim Burton delivers an equally morbidly funny tale in the follow-up. A love letter to goths and nostalgic ’80s kids alike, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice lived up — or should we say died and haunted? — to the original in all the ways that count. It’s nominated for:

Deadpool & Wolverine

We’re very happy that Mr. Pool graces the Golden Globes list this year, since his three-quel was a commercial and critical success. Putting Deadpool smack dab in the bloody guts of the MCU, the buddy comedy/super hero/action flick is a wild and much needed R-rated romp for the studio. Deadpool & Wolverine secures a nom with:

Squid Game

Netflix’s original K-drama centers on impoverished citizens forced to play diabolical and dangerous versions of children’s games. Most famous among them is hide and seek, a classic playground pastime that turns deadly in seconds. Now, players and game runners are suited up once more for season 2, premiering later this month. And since critics/voters got to see it first, Squid Game season 2 is nominated in:

The Penguin

Following the popularity of The Batman, The Penguin dives deep into Gotham City’s underbelly. The characters are tough and tenacious, cruel and calculating. It’s easy to get swept up into the lies until you forget Oz Cobb is a DC villain. But don’t worry, he’ll remind you by the end. The Penguin is nominated for:

House of the Dragon

Like Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon has had its ups and downs. The fantasy spin-off series focuses on House Targaryen before their downfall. So there’s an element of dramatic irony to the whole thing, knowing the outcomes of many characters’ struggles. Still, it’s fun to see how they get there, especially when the series is filled with acting powerhouses. Unsurprisingly, then, House of the Dragon season 2 is nominated in the following category:

Agatha All Along

Something wicked this way came, went, and stayed in our hearts! Agatha All Along, Marvel’s spooky live-action series, delves into the magic and whimsy of the MCU. But every member of that coven has a trick up their pointy hat, ultimately leading to a heart-wrenching finale. Kathryn Hahn, who plays the titular character, secures a nod for the show with:
