New LOTR Films

WB Discovery and New Line Cinema have made a deal with Embracer Group AB’s Middle-earth Enterprise to create new Lord of the Rings films. While no specific filmmakers are set to work on the projects, in a statement to Variety, director Peter Jackson and his main Lord of the Rings collaborators Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens said Warner Bros. and Embracer “have kept us in the loop every step of the way.” There is no further news about the new Lord of the Rings films at this time. 

Steven Yeun Joins Thunderbolts

According to Deadline, Steven Yeun has joined Marvel‘s Thunderbolts. He’s been cast in an undisclosed role, though Deadline reports the role could extend to future films in the MCU. Marvel’s Thunderbolts will strike theaters on July 26, 2024.

Welcome to Derry Greenlit

WB Discovery and HBO Max are officially moving forward with the It prequel series. The show is currently titled Welcome to Derry, and will be developed by Andy Muschietti, Barbara Muschietti, and Jason Fuchs. There is no further news about Welcome to Derry at this time.

The Power Official Trailer

Amazon shared a trailer for The Power, a new series based on Naomi Alderman’s international award-winning novel. When teenage girls all over the world begin developing the power to electrocute people at will, society’s balance of power is completely upturned. The Power will debut on Amazon Prime on March 31.
