Batman Day 2022

Batman Day is a global celebration of the super hero who has uplifted Gotham City for more than 80 years. All around the world, fans pay tribute to the Dark Knight and the work he’s done to make his city (and the various universes) safer from villainy.

Every year on the third Saturday of September, Batman Day ushers in new announcements, exciting events, and even exclusive releases from DC. And this year definitely doesn’t disappoint as DC has plenty of Batman Day content coming our way! At Cinemark theaters across the United States, special screenings for Batman: Mask of the Phantasm, Batman, and Batman Returns will remind fans of the Batman adventures that restarted his on-screen persona! The screenings start at 2:15 PM local time and continue into the night.

New Batman Day Content

Along with Saturday-only cinema screenings, new Bat-related news is also swooping in on this year’s Batman Day. As far as Batman video games are concerned, new in-game events and sales will be happening until September 16 with the Injustice 2 Mobile game. Plus, for fans of platform fighting video games, the free-to-play DC game MultiVersus will offer exclusive Batman Day character previews and profile icons.

Back in the world of inked panels and splash pages, Batman Day also introduces a new middle-grade reader, titled Batman’s Mystery Casebook Batman Day Special Edition, as well as a special edition of Batman #608 (2022) by Jeph Loeb and Jim Lee. This comic book is something to get fans ready for the October release of the hardcover book Batman: Hush 20th Anniversary Edition. Readers can pick up free copies of the Batman: Hush #1 preview as well as Sholly Fisch and Christopher Uminga’s Batman’s Mystery Casebook at participating comic book stores.

Batman Day Film Announcements and New Releases

In addition to all the exciting Batman Day events and releases happening, this DC holiday is also highlighting one of the most exciting upcoming projects from the World’s Greatest Detective: Batman Azteca: Choque de Imperios. Translated as Aztec Batman: Clash of Empires, this new animated film is directed by Juan Meza-León.

Batman Azteca: Choque de Imperios will feature the first Mexican incarnation of the Caped Crusader, known as the Mesoamerican hero Yohualli (voiced by Horacio García Rojas). He will confront Yoka, a version of The Joker (voiced by Omar Chaparro) and Hernan Cortés AKA Two-Face (voiced by Álvaro Morte).

Finally, a half-hour special episode of Batwheels, the first Batman preschool series from DC, is now available on HBO Max and Batman: The Audio Adventures is now released to all podcast platforms.
