My Sideshow Story – Day 5
If you’re already part of the Let Your Geek Sideshow Facebook Group, you know that we’ve recently reached 40,000 members in this global geek community. Right now we’re also in the midst of the Sideshow’s Birthday Extravaganza, so what better time to break out the cake and balloons?
For this challenge we’re asking our group members to share their favorite or most positive experience with Sideshow. This could be an interaction in Let Your Geek Sideshow, a prize they won, a memory from Comic Con—the possibilities are endless when Sideshow has just turned 27.
Every day of the Birthday Extravaganza, from Monday the 15th to Friday the 19th, we’ll be spotlighting some of our favorite stories. Below are just a few of the amazing quotes and photos already shared by our Geeksiders. See stories from Day 1, Day 2, and Day 3, and Day 4 here.
“I am sure this whole pandemic has affected you guys as well, but you guys have kept things rolling and even have raised the level in ALL of your events. Before I forget! My favorite sideshow memory/moment has and always will be Spooktacular. You guys blow my mind every year. I want to congratulate everyone @ sideshow for reaching 40k members (especially during your birthday week). Next goal, 100K!!!”
“Hey everyone! I figured I would join in on everyone’s wonderful stories with Sideshow. I first discovered this group a little over a year ago and I’m so happy I did! I don’t really know anyone else personally who collects in my life other than my husband and myself, so it’s really welcoming and fun to be part of such an amazing community of people here to share news and get excited about new acquisitions together!”
“I’ve been going to SDCC almost every year since 2002 and I always spent time in the Sideshow booth admiring the intricate details of everything on display. But that’s all I ever did, admire them, until I joined my first event Sideshow Con 2020 and out of the blue won the Obi-Wan Kenobi sixth scale Mythos figure. I didn’t even realize what I was getting into until I unpacked and began posing it. Now all I think about is what to get next. I just purchased my 2nd sixth scale this week, Barber Stan Lee, and with all the reward codes I’ve accumulated I’m ready to go big this summer. I’ve enjoyed every Sideshow event since then and surprisingly now know almost everyone’s names. These events and livestreams have been a welcome distraction from everything that’s been happening, so Thank You Sideshow!”
“This moment happened when I took my daughter to her first big comic con in New York. This was a big step for her being that she has Autism and going into a place that’s crazy packed was going to be challenging. Needless to say she did great ! She had a list of things to do and see and on that very top of her list was to visit the Sideshow booth. Illiana would always watch sideshow on youtube so she was extra excited to see the statues and crew in person. When we arrived she couldn’t stop smiling. Its almost like the world stopped and she didn’t care about the people around her being so close or the crowed areas she was in. she was in awe. It was the coolest thing ever.”
“Besides the amazing figures I’ve purchased and all the interactive shows they’ve done, my favorite moment was by far a wrap up show [when they] showed our Halloween costumes back in October and it absolutely made my daughter’s night … she still talks about it. Besides the quality of collectibles, the effort that the whole team puts in to the community shows they really care. Thank you for all you do!”
